Mall Shooting at The Mall in Columbia Maryland Leaves Three Dead, Four in Hospital

A shooter opened fire at a mall in Columbia, Maryland, today. According to police, three people including the shooter are dead. Four people are injured. Howard County Police Chief Bill McMahon said in a press conference that the shooter shot two people then himself. All the shots were fired in a store called Zumiez, a store that sells skateboards, snowboards and related accessories and clothing. The store is on the second floor of the mall.

CNN spoke to a federal official who said the initial information indicates that the shooting may have been related to a domestic dispute. Bystanders told local news stations that more than ten shots were fired and that people, including children, began screaming and running when the gunfire started.

Four people are in the hospital now after the incident. One was shot in the foot, the others suffered injuries in escaping. One had a seizure and another sprained an ankle. The management of The Mall in Columbia said: "Our hearts & prayers are with everyone in the Columbia community. The Mall in Columbia will remain closed for the remainder of the day . ... Please keep the community in your thoughts and prayers."
