Massive Tornado Hits Oklahoma City Area

A massive tornado at least a mile-wide ripped through suburbs of Oklahoma City this afternoon. CNN reports that the tornado was two-miles-wide. Numerous homes and two schools were damaged by the twister, which may have been an F5. Jim Cantore for The Weather Channel reports that the preliminary report for the tornado from the NWS is an EF4. Police and emergency personal are currently searching buildings for survivors. In addition to the damage to buildings, the tornado also tossed cars and trucks around on 1-35 and the highway is currently backed up for miles.
KFOR is carrying live coverage of the disaster here. KFOR's meteorologists says the damage caused by this tornado is at least three times as extensive as the Moore 1999 tornado. This image here shows a comparison of paths of the 1999 tornado and today's tornado.
