Miss Wisconsin Laura Kaeppeler Crowned Miss America


Miss Wisconsin Laura Kaeppeler from Kenosha, Wisconsin was crowned Miss America 2012. The first runner-up was Miss Oklahoma Betty Thompson. The pageant was broadcast live on ABC from the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Laura graduated from Carthage College. Her scholastic ambition is to obtain a Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology. Her career goal to become a speech therapist. Along with the title of Miss America 2012, Laura won a $50,000 scholarship to continue her education.

Here is a short clip of Laura being named Miss America and an interview with Robin Leach. Laura believes her entire life was predestined. She told Robin Leach, "I believe that my life has already been written to begin with, so I believe that I technically was Miss America when I was born. But I also believe that if I weren't Miss America than something else greater in my life was supposed to happen." Take a look:
