Newt Gingrich's Second Wife: Newt Wanted an Open Marriage With Me and His Mistress Callista

Newt Gingrich second wife Marianne did an exclusive interview with ABC News that will air tonight on Nightline. Marianne says that Newt lacks the moral character to serve as President. She says he takes campaign positions supporting the sanctity of marriage and family values. Yet during their 18 year marriage he cheated on her and then asked to have an open marriage with him, Marianne and his mistress Callista (Callista is now his third wife).

Callista says that voters need to know what kind of a man he is. After she received a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, Newt asked Marianne for a divorce. She asked him if there was someone else. He finally admitted a six year affair with his aide and then asked if they could have an open marriage. He said, "Callista doesn't care what I do," meaning she was willing to share Newt with his wife. Marianne declined his offer, saying that was not a marriage.
