Nintendo Planning Digital Network for 3DS and Wii U

USA Today reports that Nintendo is planning to launch a digital network for the 3DS and Wii U (the next Wii device) that will be similar to Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. People will be able to download digital game content and have personal accounts through the new service.

The digital game content gives Nintendo a way to make additional revenues by selling digital add-ons for existing games, such as new levels or features. USA Today says Mario Kart 7 for the 3DS will be the first game Nintendo offers digital content for.
