Amazon has a digital assistant named Alexa and Microsoft has one named Cordana. The two companies have agreed to work together to make Alexa and Cordana talk to each other. They will begin talking to each other later this year. The Cortana logo is pictured above.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says in the announcement, "Ensuring Cortana is available for our customers everywhere and across any device is a key priority for us. Bringing Cortana's knowledge, Office 365 integration, commitments, and reminders to Alexa is a great step toward that goal."

The companies say that once the programmers have the digital assistant communicating, Alexa users will be able to access Cortana features like booking a meeting or accessing work calendars on Windows 10. Cortana users will be able to ask Alexa to control their smart home devices, shop on Amazon.com and more.
