Google's Smart Clips Camera Takes Short Motion Photographs

Posted on January 28, 2018

Google has placed its new Google Clips camera up for pre-order. The tiny camera snaps very short motion photographs that last several seconds. The camera can be used with Google Photos.

Google says Google Clips "is smart enough to recognize great expressions, lighting and framing" and will get smarter over time. It learns to recognize faces of those you are most frequently photographed with. It also automatically chooses which moments to capture and keep. Another feature is lens occlusion detection, which will alert you phone if the lens of the camera is blocked. It gets up to 3 hours of smart capture per charge.

Google is offering Clips for $249 + free shipping. You can find it here on Google Store. New orders are going on a waitlist. It is not known how long it will be before Google starts shipping the camera.
