Ovation and Conde Nast Announce The Fashion Fund Reality TV Show
Posted on July 31, 2013
Ovation and Conde Nast Entertainment have announced The Fashion Fund, a new fashion reality television series. The series documents emerging fashion designers vying for the chance to be named the 2013 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner. American-based designers compete for the award that carries a $300,000 grant and a one-year mentorship with an industry leader. It will begin airing in December on the Ovation network.
The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund selection committee includes Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg, and top fashion executives such as Jenna Lyons and Andrew Rosen. Anna and Diane will be featured in the new television series. Conde Nast says the new series takes viewers inside legendary studio visits, a Vogue fashion photo shoot and culminates with a presentation at NYC Fashion Week and the announcement of the 2013 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner.
Robert Weiss, Ovation's chief creative officer, says, "This is the real deal. There have been a lot of fashion competition series on television, but nothing comes close to matching the authenticity and talent found in The Fashion Fund."
Weiss seems to making a diss at Project Runway - and the designers on the show - in his statement. The Hollywood Reporter says NBC recently canceled its fashion series, Fashion Star.
