The makeup for the Yves Saint Laurent Show was bold and distinctive. Eyebrows were covered up, blush was minimal and the lips were bold and glossy. Allure's Beauty Reporter chatted with makeup artist Pat McGrath about the "high maintenance" lips she created, and also found out how the hairstylist got the models' hair not to move.
"This is a high maintenance look with gloss," makeup artist Pat McGrath said backstage before the show. To create luxurious lips McGrath slicked a clear gloss over dark burgundy lipstick. She even put Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream on the eyes for an extra dose of shine.

"There's no innocence to this women," added hairstylist Guido. He shellacked the hair using Redken's Hardwear gel, defined a strong middle part, and rolled either side up into an Edwardian-inspired style. "This is a redo of an era in a modern way," he said
Pat didn't say which lipstick shade she used, but we'd guess it's a shade from the Rouge Pur Couture collection.

The shellacked hair look showed up on quite a few runways at Paris Fashion Week. Come springtime, we think we're going to need some heavy duty gel and a lot of bobby pins. You can read more about the YSL show here.
