Philip Treacy Discusses Designing Madonna's Headpiece for the Super Bowl

In this video he made for Harrods department store, milliner Philip Treacy discusses the headpiece he made for Madonna's Super Bowl performance and how he approaches design. Treacy explains, "We make all of the pieces in 3D before we start, so we can judge on the proportions or detailing, so everything needs a mock-up." He shows the mock-up of the Egyptian-style headdress, and some of the molds he uses for his hats. Each hat his its own mold -- everything is done by hand. We also get a peek into his workshop. Lady Gaga will be interning with Treacy to learn the trade, and you can see a note from her to Treacy at the beginning of the clip. Take a look:
