Rihanna Collaborates With Dior on Futuristic Sunglasses Inspired by Geordi La Forge

Posted on May 25, 2016

Rihanna and Dior have collaborated on a futuristic sunglasses collection. The collection, named Rihanna, will arrive in Dior stores next month. The collection was inspired by Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge from Star Trek.

Rihanna tells WWD that she has been a longtime fan of La Forge's look. She says, "I've always been obsessed with his eyewear, and when I got to Dior and saw all the materials I could play with, it all just came together."

La Forge was blind since birth and wore a special device called a VISOR to help him see. The device also gave him to ability to pick up on people's heart rate, temperature and moods. Rihanna's sunglasses will not do this but they will help you look cool.

WWD also says that Rihanna worked with Dior eyewear designer Mathieu Jamin. There will be several styles of the sunglasses that will retail for $840. A luxury 24-kart gold-plated version will cost $1,950. Rihanna has been modeling her new Dior sunglasses on Instagram.
