Reports: Harrods Could Add Luxury Hotel, Restaurant

Posted on October 15, 2010

Vogue UK is reporting that Harrods in London is considering adding a luxury hotel on the roof of its Knightsbridge store. A restaurant could also be added if Harrods does build a luxury hotel. Harrods managing director Michael Ward told Drapers that a luxury hotel is one of several projects being considered.

Ward told Drapers, "Are we looking at it? Yes. Have we considered it? Yes. Is it something we would do? No plans have been put forward but it is one of them. There are a number of ideas of equal magnitude."

Harrods was recently sold by Mohammed Al Fayed to Qatar Holdings for $2.2 billion. It would not be surprising if they have new plans for the building and brand.
