Samsung has launched its Charm fitness bracelet in Korea, Italy, France and Russia. The fitness tracker looks like a cross between a bracelet and a fitness tracker. Charm costs about $45.Samsung says in the announcement that Charm will be available in Gold, Black and Rose Quartz. The square charm located in the center tracks your steps and notifies you of incoming calls, texts and social media updates.
Samsung says, "Charm boasts a sleek design and looks more like a piece of jewelry than an electronic device." The Charm does resemble a bracelet but the device is not as stylish as the pricier Tory Burch for Fitbit collection.
The device is powered by a built-in 17mAh battery that runs up to 14 days on a single charge. It can be charged with the included Pogo-pin charging cradle. Samsung says Charm is compatible with smartphones running on Android OS 4.4 or higher. It works with the with the Samsung S Health app.
Venture Beat says a U.S. launch date has not been announced but suspects the device will eventually come to the U.S. market. The growing number of activity wearables is likely to ultimately drag prices down much like we have seen with tablets over the past few years.
