Samsung Tizen Smart TV

Tizen has unveiled a prototype of its new Tizen Smart TV at the Tizen Worldwide Developer Conference. Tizen is a new open source operating system for devices. Samsung and Intel are both behind the new platform.

Tizen recently unveiled its Samsung Z smartphone, which runs on the Linux-based Tizen platform. They were expected to unveil other gadgets using the Android alternative and the new 65-inch TV is one of them.

Re/code says Tizen has struggled to gain much traction so far. Samsung and Intel did hand out gifts to developers, including a Gear 2 smartwatch, at the Tizen Worldwide Developer Conference, so they seem to be very serious about the platform.
