Silly Bandz Getting Banned at Schools

Time reports that stretchy, colorful bracelets called Silly Bandz are getting banned at schools nationwide because they are so distracting for kids.

The article quotes a teacher who banned them from her classroom and calls them a "distraction." The school later implement a school-wide ban of the rubber band collectibles.

Time also says, "Students fiddle with them during class and arrange swaps - trading, say, a bracelet with a mermaid for one with a dragon - when they should be concentrating on schoolwork, teachers say. Sometimes a trade goes bad - kids get buyer's remorse too - and hard feelings, maybe even scuffles, ensue."

Well, that is an outrage. A dragon for just one mermaid does not seem like a fair trade at all...maybe a dragon for two mermaids. The Silly Bandz fantasy pack is pictured above. You can find all the different types of Silly Bandz on the official site, sillybandz.com.
