Sony Sells One Million PlayStation 4 Units in 24 Hours
Posted on November 17, 2013
Sony announced it has sold over one million PlayStation 4 units in North America in just 24 hours. This has made the game console very difficult to find both online and in stores. People lined up before midnight outside GameStop and Best Buy stores to buy the console.
Andrew House, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc., said in a statement, "PS4 was designed with an unwavering commitment to gamers, and we are thrilled that consumer reaction has been so phenomenal. Sales remain very strong in North America, and we expect continued enthusiasm as we launch the PlayStation 4 in Europe and Latin America on November 29. We are extremely grateful for the passion of PlayStation fans and thank them for their continued support."
Amazon's PS4 listing says the console is sold out due to extremely high demand. Amazon says, "Due to extremely high demand, Amazon.com is currently sold out of the PlayStation 4 inventory. However, there may be offers available from Marketplace Sellers."
