Sony Unveils Gold-Plated Premium Walkman

Sony Gold-plated Walkman

Sony has launched a gold-plated version of its Premium Walkman device. The gold-plated high-end device is the NW-WM1Z model fully encased in a high-grade gold-plated oxygen-free copper chassis. The Walkman retails for $3,199.99.

The 2.87-inch x 4.89-inch touchscreen device is compatible with High-Resolution Audio. It supports Native DSD files. It has a S-Master HX digital amplifier and USB and WM-Port connections. It has a 256GB capacity. It has a battery life of 33 hours. It runs on the Android platform.

The new Walkman was introduced at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin. Sony says the device combines "sophisticated sound technology with beautifully crafted, high-grade materials and class-leading usability."

The Verge reports that the luxury Walkman will be released early next year. A standard version of the Walkman will cost $1,199.99.
