Sphero is the company behind the popular BB-8 robotic toy. Sphero had a booth at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show. One of the devices Sphero introduced is the Star Wars Force Band, which can be used to control the BB-8 robot through gestures.

The Bluetooth-enabled Force Band is worn on your wrist. Sphero says it "allows you to use authentic Jedi Force gestures to operate BB-8."

CNET reports that some of the gestures include a "Force Push" and "Force Pull" to control the little droid. The droid can also be made to change directions with the Force Band. A prototype of the device is pictured above. A white colored Force Band was on display at CES.

Update: The device is set to arrive in stores in Fall 2016. The toy now has a release date of 9-30-16 and a new product image has been released. It will cost $79.99. The box includes the Force Band, Micro USB cable and quick start guide. It is available for purchase directly from Sphero and on Amazon.com.

Sphero says the band has a range of 25 meters. It has a 60 minute battery life per charge. Here is a video of the Force Band in action:
