Starbucks Partners With Dannon for Greek Yogurt Products

Posted on July 23, 2013

Starbucks has announced a partnership with Danone, a Paris-based multinational food company, to sell Dannon-branded fresh dairy products, starting with ready-to-eat Greek yogurt parfait. The products will be sold in participating Starbucks stores and in grocery stores. Starbucks stores will begin offering the products in spring 2014.

Howard Schultz, Starbucks chairman, president and chief executive officer, said in a statement, "Starbucks is committed to evolving and enhancing our customer experience with innovative and wholesome food offerings. Today's announcement underscores this commitment through the transformation of our existing yogurt offerings and our multi-year agreement with Danone. We are energized by the strong customer response to Evolution Fresh offerings, and believe a strategic agreement with Danone, the world leader in fresh dairy products, affords us the perfect opportunity to grow - and elevate - the Evolution Fresh brand both in our stores and in CPG channels."

The Wall Street Journal reports that Starbucks says the U.S. yogurt segment is a $6 billion business. The WSJ also says Chobani is the leading maker of Greek yogurt. Chobani made over $1 billion in sales last year.
