Video: Chef Rick Bayless Gives Outdoor Grilling Tips
Posted on May 30, 2011Chef Rick Bayless offers MarketWatch's Amy Hoak a tour of the outdoor kitchen in the back yard of his Chicago home. Rick, who created the Frontera Grill restaurant, offers his top grilling tips for home cooks.
Rick, who won Top Chef Masters last year, says he loves grilling. During the summer, he cooks outside most of the time. He's added a sink and a refrigerator his outdoor grilling setup. He has a cabinet for storing all the special grilling gadgets he uses. He also put in a wood-burning oven, so he's all set for outdoor entertaining.
Rick says the most critical thing is get the grill grates hot, and not to mess with the food. If you mess with it, the food will stick. He says he can make anything on a grill, even dessert. Rick grows $25,000 worth of produce for his restaurants each season, and highly recommends home grown produce. Take a look:
