Winona Ryder: Mel Gibson Made Anti-Semitic and Homophobic Remarks to Me and Friend

Posted on December 16, 2010

In a new interview in GQ, Winona Ryder let slip a very interesting (and horrifying) anecdote about Mel Gibson. According to Wynona (who is Jewish), Mel let loose with quite few homophobic and anti-Semitic slurs when she chatted with him at a Hollywood party fifteen years ago.

Winona says nobody believed her at the time because Mel's career was on fire.

"I remember, like, fifteen years ago, I was at one of those big Hollywood parties. And he was really drunk. I was with my friend, who's gay. He made a really horrible gay joke. And somehow it came up that I was Jewish. He said something about 'oven dodgers,' but I didn't get it. I'd never heard that before. It was just this weird, weird moment. I was like, 'He's anti-Semitic and he's homophobic.' No one believed me!"

Wow. Just wow. That is horrifying. And not in the least bit surprising, in light of Mel's behavior that has come to light over the past few years.
