Yankees Star Alex Rodriguez Suspended From Play Through 2014

Posted on August 5, 2013

NBC reports that Yankees star Alex Rodriguez (A-Rod) has been suspended without play through 2014. This is a total of 211 games. A-Rod is expected to appeal the suspension. If he does appeal, his suspension will be stayed until his appeal is completed. Twelve other players received 50-game suspensions. The suspensions stem from findings that players used performance-enhancing drugs acquired from a Miami wellness clinic, Biogenesis of America, that has since been shuttered.

Rodriguez said in a statement, "I am disappointed with the penalty and intend to appeal and fight this through the process. I am eager to get back on the field and be with my teammates in Chicago tonight. I want to thank my family, friends and fans who have stood by my side through all of this."
