Posted on April 3, 2016

Yuneec has announced that its new Typhoon H drone is available for pre-order. The first deliveries will begin later this month. The drone was first introduced earlier this year at CES 2016.

The six-rotor drone has a 3-axis, 360-degree gimbal, and CGO3+ camera. It can record 4K videos and 12 megapixel stills. The camera has full 360 degree rotation. The drone has retractable landing gear. It has safety features that include ultrasonic proximity detection to prevent collisions with obstacles. The drone comes with an Android-based ST16 controller which features a 7-inch touchscreen.

Yuneec CEO Yu Tian says in a statement, "We're excited to bring our game-changing Typhoon H to market, opening access to creative possibilities previously only available in expensive professional platforms. Now, anyone can capture incredible aerial footage like never before. It's our most advanced consumer drone ever, setting a new standard in capability and value, while being ready, easy and safe to fly."

The Typhoon H can continue flying even if one rotor fails. The rotor arms can be folded downward for easier storage. The drone weighs 15.4 pounds. A special carrying backpack for the drone is sold separately.

The drone retails for $1,299. It has a release date of April 15, 2016. Take a look:
