Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts to Join Apple in Spring 2014

Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts will be leaving Burberry for Apple next spring. CNN/Money reports that she will be the only female in Apple's 10-person executive suite. She will be the head of Apple's online store and its physical stores. Burberry's shares plunged on the new of her departure. Burberry chief creative officer Christopher Bailey will become the company's chief executive when Ahrendts leaves.

Angela Ahrendts is credited for boosting Burbery's global brand and increasing revenues and profits. This included the launch of new retail stores that make use of technology and music.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement, "I am thrilled that Angela will be joining our team. She shares our values and our focus on innovation, and she places the same strong emphasis as we do on the customer experience. She has shown herself to be an extraordinary leader throughout her career and has a proven track record."
