Disney's Haunted Mansion Features Gingerbread Zombie for Halloween 2014

Posted on October 13, 2014

The Halloween festivities are underway at Disneyland Resort. The Haunted Mansion gets a special Halloween makeover each year. They also create a special gingerbread design each season. This season there is a gingerbread zombie trapped inside a haunted gingerbread house. The zombie will remain on display through January 6, 2015.

This season is the 14th original gingerbread design at the mansion. Disney has been making them every year since 2001. The gingerbread zombie is locked up inside the gingerbread house. He looks unhappy to be trapped inside the house. It does not look like a comfortable place to be because it has sharp candy cane spikes on both doors. These doors can open and close. The house also lights up.

The gingerbread house has a wood foundation that is wired for lighting. Disney says the foundation is sent to the Disneyland Resort Central Bakery where the gingerbread base and icing are applied. 200 pounds of gingerbread, 200 pounds of icing and 150 pounds of fondant were used in this year's spooky creation.

This year's Haunted Mansion Holiday also features a cool looking Pumpkin Mountain. The detailed pumpkins on the mountain have animated mouths that look amazing. Take a look:
