Some Hatchimals Fail to Hatch Say Consumers

Posted on December 28, 2016

Hatchimals were by far the hottest holiday toy of 2016. The toys from Spin Master sold out ahead of Black Friday at many locations and were going for two or three times list price through third party sellers on Amazon, Walmart and elsewhere. Most kids getting the toy for Christmas were delighted but some consumers are reporting that their Hatchimals are not hatching.

p>The New York Daily News reports that some disgruntled parents have been complaining about Hatchimals that have failed to hatch or have not completely hatched. This video shared by Dustin Shammo on Twitter shows a Hatchimal that has failed to hatch out of its shell:

Spin Master says in a statement, "While the vast majority of children have had a magical experience with Hatchimals, we have also heard from consumers who have encountered challenges. We are 100 percent committed to bringing the magic of Hatchimals to all of our consumers."

Hatchimals does have some tips on its website, Hatchimals.com. One of the tips says, "Turning the plastic 'locks' located underneath the egg 90 degrees and pulling them out from underneath the egg will activate the hatching process."

ABC Action News says there have also been some dead battery issues. Take a look:
