Crayola to Reveal New Shade of Blue After Retiring Dandelion Crayons

Crayola retired its Dandelion crayon last month on National Crayon Day. The color was celebrated with a large 25 foot tall crayon box in Times Square in New York City. Crayola will reveal its replacement - a new shade of blue - in May. Crayola will ask fans for help in naming the new color.

Melanie Boulden, Senior Vice President, US & Global Marketing at Crayola, says in a statement, "As we celebrate National Crayon Day and Dandelion, we are also extremely excited to share what color comes next. Not only are we introducing a new Blue to the world to take Dandelion's place, but we will invite our fans to be a part of Crayola history by naming it."

Dandelion is currently on a nationwide tour to celebrate its retirement. Dandelion crayons will continue to appear in Crayola crayon boxes while supplies last. Here is a video of the Dandelion celebration in Times Square. It featured crayons mascots and the group Pentatonix. Take a look:
