Amazon has introduced its first security camera. The Amazon Cloud Cam is a smart camera that works with Alexa. It features 1080p Full HD resolution video, motion detection and two-way audio. It has a wide viewing angle. It works with the Amazon Cloud Cam App and with Amazon's AWS cloud service to record and store video footage.
Charlie Tritschler, Vice President, Amazon Devices, says in the announcement, "Cloud Cam has all the features you need to monitor your home, including a 1080p Full HD camera, night vision, two-way audio, and free storage for clips-and with the secure AWS cloud powering Cloud Cam’s advanced computer algorithms and intelligent alerts, the service is always getting smarter."
Cloud Cam records video automatically when activity is detected. It could be used to monitor children, pets or set-up to monitor who is at your front door. After recording video the Cloud Cam sends out a mobile notification and stores the clip. Amazon says you will have free access to the last 24 hours of clips. They are stored securely in the AWS cloud. You can get access to more archives for a an additional fee.
The Amazon Cloud Cam can be found on Amazon.com. It will ship on November 8, 2017.
