Wayfair Launches HydroRoom Furniture on April Fool's Day

Wayfair announced the launch of its new HydroRoom Collection today, April 1st. The funiture grows from tiny pills into full-size furniture, including sofas, armchairs, ottomans, tables and more. The water-activated expandable foam furniture arrives in 1-inch sealed gelatin capsule.

The capsules are first soaked in warm water to break down the gelatin capsule containment barrier. The capsule is then placed in an open area of your room where it grows into a piece of furniture. This takes about 24-36 hours. This idea would certainly make furniture cheaper and easier to ship.

The HydroRoom site warns not to swallow the capsules. You don't want a sofa expanding inside you.

Steve Conine, co-founder of Wayfair.com, explains the HydroRoom collection. Conine says he was fascinated about the foam dinosaurs that expanded in water as a kid. Take a look:
