Five Toy Train Highlights From Toys R Us

Toys R Us sees trains making a comeback for the 2010 holiday season. The retailer says many of the train sets available for the 2010 holiday season are already chugging off store shelves. Toys R Us notes that even Warren Buffett is into trains. He snapped up multiple U.S. rail systems for $4 billion. Here are five much more affordable toy train highlights from Toys R Us:

Road and Rails Train Set from TOMY: The trains in the Tomica line that are making their U.S. debut this fall at Toys R Us are decedents of TOMY's Pla-Rail toy train system, which was first introduced in Japan in 1959. This Road and Rails set features a track and a railroad crossing to get kids started on their first train adventure.

Chuggington Roundhouse Playset from Learning Curve: This set it based on the animated television series for preschoolers. It is a lights and sounds playset featuring four engine bays and a rotating launcher with turntable. Kids rotate the launcher to eject the die-cast train engines onto the circular track. The train engines include Koko.

Geotrax Transportation System Christmas in Toy Town RC Set from Fisher-Price: This Toys R Us exclusive radio-controlled train set designed for little engineers has a holiday theme. It features over 20 pieces of interchangeable Snap-Lock track. Kids can display miniature wreaths and trees around town while Christmas music plays from the train and controller. There are also candy cane crossings and gingerbread man figures.

Thomas & Friends Thomas' Mountain Adventure by MEGA Bloks: Thomas and Percy have an adventure on the Island of Sodor in this 160-piece Toys R Us exclusive construction set. Thomas and Percy carry passengers and supplies while traveling through tunnels and over a bridge. An elevator helps Thomas climb to new heights. The engines can take a break in the Tidmouth Shed. The set comes with a storage table to store all the pieces.

Tomica Hypercity Mega Station Set from TOMY: This Toys R Us exclusive train set mimics the action of a bustling city station. It includes a convenience store, roads, trees, parking spaces and lampposts. Cars yield at the railroad crossing to wait for the train to stop. Traffic automatically starts up again once the train has passed. Kids can also switch the station can also be switched into manual mode.
