Nike Launches MAG Shoes Inspired by Back to the Future Part II

Posted on September 8, 2011

Nike has launched footwear inspired by the shoes worn by Marty McFly in the film, Back to the Future Part II. Nike says the shoes feature an electroluminescent outsole, space-age materials and a rechargeable internal battery good for 3,000 hours.

Nike is auctioning 150 pairs of the shoes on eBay. All net proceeds from the auction sales of the 2011 Nike MAG shoes will go directly to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. For 10 days, 150 pairs of the 2011 Nike MAG shoes will be auctioned every day, starting on September 8 at 8:30 p.m. PT.

A news item about the shoes can be found on Nike.com. Here's a Nike video about the 2011 Nike MAG. Take a look:

The 2011 Nike MAG shoes do lake the self-lacing shoelaces as this Nike MAG history video from Nice Kicks points out.
