Barbie Hoverboard Toy to Arrive in Stores This Fall

Barbie is getting her own drone. The Barbie RC Hoverboard will arrive in toy stores this fall. The drone is powered by a Barbie joystick and features a special Barbie that rides on top of it.

The futuristic Barbie drone ties in with a new Barbie movie that also comes out this fall. It is a space fantasy movie called Barbie Star Light Adventure. Barbie will journey to a new galaxy and planet in the animated film.

The Barbie Star Light Adventure RC Hoverboard was on display at the 2016 Toy Fair in New York City. The hoverboard is actually a small quadcopter. A Barbie figure sits in the middle of the hoverboard. A press of the button causes the Barbie hoverboard to take off or land. The pink remote control and joystick is used to control the movement of the hoverboard. It can also be used to perform tricks. There is a special button for tricks on the remote. Mattel says in a release that there are three pre-set flying stunts.

The Barbie drone will retail for $59.99. Here is a video of the hoverboard in action at the Toy Fair. It is a fairly noisy craft but Barbie looks pretty cool riding it. The video also shows how the joystick works.

Update 6-10-16: The poster for the upcoming Barbie film shows Barbie and her friends riding hoverboards. The film has an August 1, 2016 release date. There is also a Barbie Starlight comic coming out in October 25, 2016.
