KFC to Launch Original Recipe Boneless Chicken on April 14
Posted on April 6, 2013
KFC has announced it will launch its new Original Recipe Boneless chicken on April 14. The chicken is still fried, but lacks bones. A two-piece Boneless Combo with a piece of dark meat, a piece of white meat, an individual side item, a biscuit, and a medium drink will cost $4.99. A 10-piece mixed bucket of boneless and on-the-bone chicken will cost $14.99.
USA Today says that by next year KFC is projecting that most of its chicken sold will be of the boneless variety. ABC News reports that the original KFC drumsticks are not going away.
The boneless chicken launches with "I ate the bones" themed commercials directed by David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook). In one of the commercials a customer panics thinking he ate the bones. Fortunately, he is mistaken. USA Today has a video of the commercial here.
