Christian Louboutin to Design Pink Pumps for Barbie's 2009 Fashion Show

Christian Louboutin is designing special pumps in iconic Barbie Pantone 219 Pink that will be worn by all the models in a special Barbie-inspired runway show.

The pumps will be Barbie pink except for the red soles, of course. The runway show from Mattel Inc. will debut during New York fashion week in February, 2009.

Louboutin told WWD, "I guess I always had a little 'girlie side' who liked Barbie. Barbie needs to wear great shoes because every girl needs to wear great shoes."

The Barbie fashion show will be part of Barbie's 50th birthday celebration. Fifty designers will create life-sized outfits inspired by Barbie. The designers will likely be looking at past Barbie dolls for inspiration - you can look through the past fifty years of Barbie on the official Barbie website.
