New York State is Making Hand Sanitizer
Posted on March 9, 2020
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today during a press conference that New York has started producing its own hand sanitizer. They are making 100,000 gallons a day of the hand sanitizer, which is made by prisoners through the company Corcraft Products.
New York plans to distribute the sanitizer for free to government agencies, schools, the MTA and other places. The launch of the product comes amidst price gouging over hand sanitizers by online sellers.
The sanitizer is called NYS Clean. Cuomo says it has 75% alcohol. New York is not currently selling the product. It is primarily to protect the state from price gouging during the coronavirus outbreak. Cuomo warned the NYDOS is investigating reports of gouging on cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer in a tweet.
