Lawsuits Claim Footlong Subway Just 11 Inches

CNN's Erin Burnett reports on the Subway footlong controversy. A man posted a photograph of his subway, showing it is just 11 inches.

Subway said in a statement that "footlong" is a descriptive name and "not intended to be a measure of length." There have been several lawsuits over the footlong not being twelve inches.

CNN measured a couple subway sandwiches and found that one was longer than 12 inches and one was shorter. This was a very small sample but it might be that the sandwiches are variable in length but generally around a foot long. Take a look:
