99 Cents Only Closing All Stores

Posted on April 6, 2024

99 Cents Only is closing all of its stores and running going-out-of-business sales. Hilco Global is managing the liquidation event.

The liquidation sale will include all the approximate 371 locations across Arizona, California, Nevada and Texas. A list of store closing is included below.

Gift cards and merchandise credits will be honored through close of business on April 19, 2024.

Mike Simoncic, Interim Chief Executive Officer of 99 Cents Only Stores, mentioned Covid-19 and inflation in a statement explaining the end of 99 Cents Only. Simoncic says, "This was an extremely difficult decision and is not the outcome we expected or hoped to achieve. Unfortunately, the last several years have presented significant and lasting challenges in the retail environment, including the unprecedented impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, shifting consumer demand, rising levels of shrink, persistent inflationary pressures and other macroeconomic headwinds, all of which have greatly hindered the Company's ability to operate. We deeply appreciate the dedicated employees, customers, partners, and communities who have collectively supported 99 Cents Only Stores for decades."

Hilco says in the announcement, "This event marks a final opportunity for loyal customers to take advantage of massive savings on everyday essential consumables and general merchandise. Top-selling items from the most popular brands will be discounted and will sell out very quickly. Customers are encouraged to visit their nearest 99 Cent Only Stores location early to take full advantage of the best selection of discounted merchandise before it sells out."
