Bottled Water is Top Purchase at Airports

Posted on August 22, 2016

Hudson Group runs nearly 1,000 stores in airports and transportation terminals in North America. They recently released a list of the top ten items sold at airports. Beverages dominated the list taking eight of the ten top spots. Most of these beverages were bottled water. It is good to know travelers are staying hydrated.

CNN notes that the bottled water purchases come despite the higher airport prices. Dasini was the leading bottled water seller followed by Glaceau. Diet Coke was the leading soda. People probably buy a lot of snacks as well but they vary their selection so much that a single snack did not top the list. Peanuts M&Ms were the only food on the top ten list. Here is the list.

  1. Dasani bottled water (20 oz)
  2. Glaceau Smartwater (20 oz)
  3. Large Dasani (one liter)
  4. Glaceau Smartwater (one liter)
  5. Glaceau Smartwater (23.8 oz)
  6. Diet Coke (20 oz)
  7. Coca-Cola (20 oz)
  8. M&M Peanut king-size
  9. Coca-Cola Zero (20 oz)
  10. The Wall Street Journal

In newspapers, it was The Wall Street Journal in front followed by the New York Post, The New York Times and USA Today. US Weekly and In Touch were the top selling newsstand magazines. The bestselling book titles tend to be items from the current bestseller lists.
