Fitbit by Google Becomes Google Fitbit

Google is rebranding its Fitbit by Google line as Google Fitbit. Google completed its acquisition of the company in 2021. The Fitbit Sense 2 and Fitbit Versa 4 are pictured above.

9to5google notes that the change is similar to how Google refers to some of its other products, such as the Google Pixel and Google Next.

The Fitbit devices can be found on the Google store along with smartwatches like the Google Pixel. As 9to5google as notes, you can now also find a range of Fitbit accessories at the Google store. These include bands, chargers, clips and more.

The name change is a minor one but it follows a bigger change earlier this year when Google consolidate the hardware teams for Pixel, Next and Fitbit - see Android Authority.

The good news for Fitbit fans is that Google appears committed to Fitbit products. Google also runs a subscription service for Fitbit and Pixel products called Fitbit Premium.

Google also updated the Fitbit App in late 2023. Some of the commentors on the YouTube video about the update didn't like the changes, particularly the lack of "challenges."
