Amazon's New Echo Spot Features a Circular Screen

Amazon introduced a new Echo device today called the Echo Spot. The Echo Spot is similar to the Echo Dot but it has a 2.5-inch circular screen. You could also think of it as a tiny Echo Show. In one of the product images Amazon has the Echo Spot sitting on a bedside table. CNN's Anderson Cooper can be seen on the circular display.

The Echo Spot contains Amazon's Alexa cloud-based voice service. Through Alexa, Spot can be used to control smart home devices, such as security cameras, baby monitors and lights. The screen makes it possible to display lyrics while streaming songs from Amazon Music. Spot features 2nd generation far-field technology with four microphones and beamforming technology. It can connect to speakers with its 3.5 mm stereo cable or Bluetooth. You can also use it to make video calls.

The small gadget weighs 14.8 oz. It can connect to 2.4 and 5 GHz networks. It is available for pre-order from Amazon.com. It will ship on December 19, 2017 - just in time for the holidays. Here's a first look at Spot from Cam Newton at The Verge. Take a look:
