Taylor Swift Covers Allure Magazine in Lanvin

Posted on March 23, 2009

Singer Taylor Swift is on the cover of the April issue of Allure magazine. She's wearing a cotton silk taffeta dress by Lanvin. For the cover photo, makeup artist Gucci Westman wanted to give Taylor "an updated Vargas-girl look, with a strong mouth and beautiful skin." Allure explained how the look was achieved.

First, she blended cream highlighter and concealer over Swift's entire face. Then she applied mauve blush, brown eye shadow, black mascara, and vivid red lipstick, which Swift loved so much that Westman gave her a tube of her own.
Taylor Swift also talked with Allure about relationships, songwriting and music in a feature called The Story Teller.

On Talking About Sex: "It's fine to talk about love publicly. But I think when you talk about virginity and sex publicly, people just automatically picture you naked."

On Writing Songs About Relationships: "I'm the kind of person who needs all her time to be worth the energy. Let's say I date a guy who really does nothing but damage me. And you've spent time, you've spent effort, and you've put everything into trying to make that work. And it didn't. So you write a song about it. It was worth everything, if you write a song about it."

On Fairy Tales: "I have always been fascinated with fairy tales, and the idea that Prince Charming is just one castle away. And you're gonna run across a field and meet each other in the middle, and have an amazing, perfect movie kiss. And it's gonna be happily ever after."

That Taylor Swift loves fairy tales is no surprise to her fans - Taylor's "White Horse" song is just one example. You can see some behind the scenes photos from the photo shoot on Allure.com. The issue with Taylor will hit newsstands on March 24th.
