Mattel's Avatar Toys Revealed

Posted on August 25, 2009

James Cameron's first trailer for Avatar debuted on the Internet last week. The big budget science fiction flick will arrive in theaters on December 18th. With it will come lots of movie product tie-ins including a line of action figures from Mattel.

The action figures include the AMP Suit and the Direhorse. You can see photographs of more of the Avatar action figures on Mattel's Flickr post. Mattel has even set up a Twitter account, @AvatarFigures. Everything gets a Twitter account these days, even toy lines. The toys will arrive in stores this October.

Fast Company writes that some of the toys will contain a 3-D Web tag, or i-TAG, that activates augmented reality when placed in front of a webcam.

There are also some Avatar cards coming from Coke and McDonald's.

Here's a video of the toy line form the Toy Fair.
