Overstock Rebrands at Bed Bath & Beyond

Posted on August 4, 2023

Bed Bath & Beyond closed earlier this year after a filing a bankruptcy warning. This included the closure of its website but now the website is back from the dead.

The bedbathandbeyond.com has returned and it is now the new home of Overstock. The overstock.com site now redirects to bedbathandbeyond.com. The site says that "Overstock and Bed Bath & Beyond have merged into one home shopping destination."

Overstock also says in a FAQ, "Overstock is now Bed Bath & Beyond. You’ll still find all the home products, deals, and affordable prices you love from Overstock on the new Bed Bath & Beyond website and app. Your Overstock account, order history, and saved items are available just as they were before this exciting change."

Overstock says there are no plans to reopen stores at this time.

Jonathan Johnson, CEO of the new Bed Bath & Beyond, says in a press announcement, "Overstock has a great business model with a name that does not reflect its focus on home. Bed Bath & Beyond is a much-loved and well-known consumer brand, which had an outdated business model that needed modernizing. Through this rebranding, we’re breathing new life into Bed Bath & Beyond, positioning it as an asset-light, ecommerce retailer with an expanded home furnishings and furniture assortment. Think of it as Bed Bath & a much bigger, better Beyond."

Overstock has always had a following online but it is clear that Bed Bath & Beyond is more recognizable. A report on CNN says the new site is "reinstating up to $50 in unused loyalty rewards points for active members of the former Bed Bath & Beyond loyalty program." They will also be offering regular coupons although the 20% off coupon known as Big Blue is not returning.
