Google is Working on Modular Smartphones

Google is working on a modular smartphone. Google's Project Ara is developing a phone that would have removable and replaceable parts. The idea is that the phone would have replaceable parts such as the battery, screen, cameras and speakers.

The phone design would also allow for multiple color combinations and styles. Some modules could printed at home with a 3D printer.

CNN reports that prices for the devices could range from $50 to $500, which is quite a range. The first modular phone is expected in early 2015.
