KFC to Award $11,000 to Family That Names Baby Harland

KFC is running a very unusual baby name contest. The fast food company says it will award $11,000 to the first family that names a baby Harland on September 9th. September 9th is the birthday of KFC founder Colonel Harland Sanders.
This appears to be a genuine contest. April Fool's Day was several months ago. If you were already planning on naming your newborn child Harland this might be the contest for you. Today notes that Harland was the 6,193 most popular baby name in 2018 according to Baby Center so the name is being used.
KFC says on an Instagram post, "It's a great name for your baby. Just say it out loud. Harland. Plus, your greatly named kid could get $11,000 for college."
KFC's Instagram video also notes that the use of Harland is in decline.
