Hasbro Launches Play-Doh Town and Celebrates Play-Doh Brand's 60th Birthday

Hasbro is celebrating the 60th birthday of its Play-Doh brand this year. The modeling compound was first developed as a wallpaper cleaner in the 1930s. It became a children's toy in 1956 under the Rainbow Crafts Company.

Hasbro is introducing a new line of sets this year under the Play-Doh Town brand. Hasbro will also reintroduce classic sets this year such as the Play-Doh Doctor Drill 'N Fill playset.

The town sets available at launch include the Play-Doh Town Ice Cream Truck, Play-Doh Town Pet Store and Play-Doh Town Fire Truck. There are also smaller sets featuring characters and vehicles including a road worker, police motorcycle and pizza deliverer. There are also individual characters available including a painter, police boy, doctor and ice cream girl.

Greg Lombardo, vice president of marketing for Play-Doh, says in a statement, "We are thrilled to introduce Play-Doh Town, which brings creative play together with figures and playsets, allowing kids to open their imaginations as they explore their Towns and create new stories each time they play."

The sets retail for $14.99 each and the vehicle sets cost $9.99. The Play-Doh Town characters cost $5.99 each.
