The Power of Plyometrics

Geralyn Coopersmith, a senior fitness instructor at Equinox, teaches a new exercise program called Plyometrics. Plyometrics is for people who are already at a basic level of fitness who want to shake up their routine and get fast results.

It's high intensity and high impact and is certainly not recommended for anyone with knee or ankle problems or balance issues. The concept is to stretch then do an explosive movement.

Here's Chris Wragge and Erica Hill learning Plyometrics for CBS News. They had to step up on small platforms. There is jumping, lateral bounds and step-ups involved. Doing it in a dress and bare feet like Erica is not recommended. Take a look:
