Taylor Swift Wears Super Short Romper to MTV Video Music Awards

Posted on August 24, 2014

Singer Taylor Swift took a fashion risk on the red carpet at the 2014 MTV VMAs tonight, which unfortunately did not pay off. Taylor wore a pale blue once piece romper from Mary Katrantzou's 2015 resort collection. The romper featured metallic letter embroidery, long sleeves, short shorts and a high neck.

Taylor's leggy look also featured burgundy leather shoes by Elie Saab and Ofira gold bands. Taylor went for a wavy, sultry hairdo and heavy blue eyeshadow. Taylor is gorgeous, but this look was not worthy of her. The leather sandals overpower the out of control onesie that looks like a ballgown from the waist up. Although, to be fair, we defy any stylist to come up with shoes that work with this look. If you're going to go Full Romper, then just go there - go-go boots and all. But, all the same, we wish you wouldn't.

Taylor is supposed to be performing her new single "Shake it Off" tonight. We just hope there's a costume change coming very, very soon. We will put this down to her stylist eating some bad shrimp a few hours ago. That must be it. Now, shake it off.

Taylor winks at the camera in this Vine video shared by MTV.

Taylor gave no hint that she would be wearing the short romper ahead of the show. She shared a cute photograph of her and Ed Sheeran getting ready for the awards. She is wearing a robe as she helps Sheeran with his makeup. Taylor tweeted, "We're getting ready for the #VMAs, are you?"

Taylor also tweeted a photograph of the sparking microphone she will using doing her performance. It has the name of her upcoming album, 1989, on the side. We hope she will perform some of the dances from the entertaining music video during her performance.

Taylor told Lucy Hale in a red carpet MTV interview that you can't really prepare for the MTV Awards because there is "always something crazy that happens." She says she is counting down the days to her album. Lucy said she was having a fan girl moment during the interview.
